Move ’Em Right: The Art of Calm Cattle and Confident Crews

Brought to you in partnership with Dawn Hnatow and the the Redwing Ranch 2026 Workshop Series. Improve your stockhandling skills and learn how stockmanship improves animal health and performance, grazing, and ranch profitability.

Workshop Overview

June 17–21, 2026 | Redwing Ranch, Gardner, CO

Bud Williams–style stockmanship in the saddle.
A multi-day, hands-on clinic with Dawn Hnatow, focused on practical, effective livestock handling and crew communication—both on horseback and on foot.

About the Event

Join us at Redwing Ranch for a working stockmanship clinic designed to improve your ability to handle and manage cattle with clarity and precision. This clinic follows the Bud Williams style of stockmanship, teaching participants how to apply timing, positioning, and consistent pressure to move livestock efficiently and confidently in any situation.

While much of the instruction and practice will take place on horseback, participants will also spend time on foot to understand livestock behavior and movement from the animal’s perspective.

Participants will:

  • Build a stronger understanding of herd behavior and movement

  • Learn to use pressure and angles effectively when handling cattle

  • Practice moving and sorting animals in both pastures and corrals

  • Improve timing, positioning, and teamwork with other handlers

  • See how effective stockmanship supports animal performance, safety, and ranch profitability

Horse & Facility Details

Participants must bring their own horse, along with feed, hay, and a water bucket.
Redwing Ranch will provide:

  • Individual stalls

  • Access to shared wheelbarrows, shovels, and cleaning tools

  • Space for trailer parking and tack storage

At Redwing Ranch, we believe good stockmanship benefits cattle, land, and people — and everyone deserves access to these skills. Our tiered pricing structure keeps this workshop accessible while honoring the real cost of bringing world-class instruction to the ranch.

Each tier receives the same full workshop experience; lodging is the only difference.
Choose the tier that best fits your situation — no explanation needed.

Starter Stirrups // Tier 3 — $2,000.00

A reduced-cost option designed for learners, early-career land stewards, young ranchers, or those without consistent access to formal land-based training. Skills like these should be accessible to everyone.
